Crazy question....Since having my ablation I have noticed that if I sleep on my side I am more aware of what my heart is doing. So I have been having to sleep on my back more. Which has been a difficult task for me since I normally sleep on my left side. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Sleeping Position After Ablation
Yep! It's hyper-vigilance, I think! If I lie on my Right side it seems wherever I lie my hands (usually curled around me) there is a pulse too! I never knew I had so many pulse points.
My poor husband even says HE can now feel my heart beat again the mattress now too!
We call it cardionoia (cardiac + paranoia). But it gets better as time goes on and we can relax a bit.....
Keep well

Love the name. At least you don't have pulsatile tinitus and have to put up with hearing your heart shoop shooping.
My pulsatile tinnitus craneii is more of a whoosh whooshing on the side of my head . We could start a cardiac jazz band
I do have tinitus!! And I can hear my heart more!! Crazy how it does that.
Actually I don't have normal tinitus its just that once all ambient noise is gone (trying to go to sleep) I can hear the blood pulsing in my ears shoop shoop shoop etc which is hard to ignore sometimes. This pulsatile tinitus is apparently not uncommon with we AF ers Lord knows why.
A little while ago if I slept on my right side my heart beat would increase. (I didn't dare sleep on my left!). I had to train myself to sleep on my back. I could go to sleep on my back but not stay asleep. I asked on here about it and no one had any real ideas about it. Then it went away and I'm back sleeping on my right side. Lying too flat can also make it speed up.
Haven't had an Afib since before Christmas (hooray!) but when I was having them I'd have to sit quite upright on the sofa. It made them less uncomfortable.
I wonder if there are any two Afib sufferers who have the same symptoms as anyone else - or the same medication.
Good luck!

I usually sleep on my right hand side (too much thumpedy thump if I laid on my left) but since my ablation 4.5 wks ago, I have been propped up on my back. Over the last few days, I've reduced the propping and had the odd spell on my right side but my thigh is still tender from the bruising so I dont last on my side very long. Guess it's just what makes us comfortable in the interim.😊.
I too cannot sleep on my left and it’s uncomfortable to sleep on my right. It makes me very aware of what my heart is doing. I lay on my back but can’t be flat , I need to be propped up a little. Am glad you haven’t had an episode! Take care!
