Bisopropol Fumarate

I’ve just started taking this for suspected AF and had really bad day yesterday with pain on left side abdomen below ribs radiating to back. Feeling bloated and full although no appetite and eaten little more than mashed banana and water. Has anyone else experienced this?

I don't take Bisoprolol, have metoprolol, but I have to say I haven't seen this mentioned as a side effect before.

I would recommend that you contact your GP asap. If you feel worse then dial the 111 NHS number for advice. Chest pain must always be investigated. Last time I experienced chest pain my doctors surgery sent paramedics to check me over.

Thanks very much for the advice. I actually do have an appointment with my GP and for ECG and blood tests so hopefully will get to the bottom of it.

That doesn't sound much fun. I hope you are able to sort out what's wrong and feel better soon.

A belated thanks for your response and good advice - just seen 6 posts I’ve missed.

Hello, if you have noticed these changes since taking a new medication, it is always worth checking with your GP or Pharmacist, as to whether they could be causing a reaction to other medications in your diet? You may also find some helpful information regarding Bisoprolol in our 'Treatment Options for an Arrhythmia' booklet available to download from heartrhythmalliance.org/aa/.... Take care, Tracy

Thanks for your response Tracy. I saw a doctor yesterday and he was ‘not convinced’ the symptoms are related to the medication although had no explanation why he thought that. He said to continue with it and gave me painkillers(?!) I left as I always do - ‘not convinced’ my surgery ‘cares’ much about their job. I am thinking perhaps I will change to another practice😕
