I put "afib cause/cure found!" in the search engine news on browsers hoping to hear something wonderful. Still waiting unfortunately..

Good luck with that one. Always good for a laugh I suppose .
I suppose it is perspective , glasses do not cure short sight but they correct it, it is still too soon for me, but 4 months of NSR and increasing energy etc feel like a cure, I know it is a respite, but many here have had ablations that give them no QOL symptoms for years and if they stay on anticoagulant, they have a very reduced risk of stroke.
I think of it like this in 1950 if you had afib you were stuck with it I think they would think there are “ cures” today

Have a look at this post:
Thsbks first the replies. I am rwsding a brand new book AFIB Cure that was published in Feb 2021 and yes the title had me going "whatever" too. But it is written by two docs a cardiologist and an electrophysiologist or whatever that specialty is lol..20 years of data and they birth work at highly respected medical centers in the USA. Ill report out on it when I am done reading it but for me personally I have had only one episode in almost 2 years and that only lasted overnight...
The mental anxiety part of it is tough for me but I got my high blood pressure under control using Diltiazem... got a CPAP..no alcohol..no caffeine..exercise..so.knock wood..seems to have helped..
Best

Don't want to be intrusive KevJenn but could I ask you if you still take anticoags with so few episodes. I'm with you on the mental anxiety though,
Hello I do not. I am 55 years old and have zero risk factors per my new cardiologist. I had high blood pressure my while life although I am very slim and being out on Diltiazem has reduced the BP effectively. I might add that twice I was given Pradaxia before cardio version and had a horrid time with it. I will never take Pradaxia again. Ever.
On the book:
It was very well advertised and somewhat controversial. I haven’t read it but I did look into buying it but before I did I read Dr Day’s blog drjohnday.com/get-rid-atria...
As far as I could see - nothing new or startling there! Certainly the Bio-Markers sound interesting - but how many people are going to be able to access and then be willing to change their lifestyle accordingly? He may correct in advocating this methodology but calling it a ‘Cure’? - Purely to sell books.
Have got this on order CD will let you know if any good, he's a big lifestyle change advocate, plant based diet, BP control etc, his site is pretty good though !

I’d be interested to hear your opinion. That was my understanding as well. If you start young with lifestyle changes I’m sure it can be prophalactic, I can see that as procedures for ablation improve there will be greater efficacy but the most interesting for me will be the development of bio markers and personalised medicine.
Too late for me though but I can’t complain as I’ve had excellent treatment but what was lacking was the specific lifestyle changes which would help me, I’ve had to work those out for myself so I welcome anything that takes us nearer to that goal.
Still don’t believe ‘Cure’ is the right word as we know there are so many factors linked and related to AF.
me too. The only thing close I have found is this one particular US Dr. in Houston Texas. He created and designed instruments for his procedure. with a 94% success rate for curing Afib, Zero deaths, Zero infections, and never have to take anticoagulants again, after 2 months. Ive been talking with people that have had this Dr. do this procedure and they are extremely happy. Reporting it only took 2 1/2 hours, out of hospital in 2-4 days, felt like they had nothing done at all within 5 weeks, and have been afib free since. Some had it done 3 yrs ago, and another was over 10 yrs ago. No restrictions on activity. This is the only thing even close to a "cure". Im interested, but even more to find the reason what caused it, since it affects both the young heathy active and the older people.
