Had a call from the Dr this morning to say that patients with AFIB are in the 6th group as vulnerable, which i thought was strange because i couldn't get a flu jab. Anyone else heard this ?

Not hear this before in UK . Lone AF has never been a high risk from what our medical team video told us.

That was my thinking as well because im not entitled to a flu jab with just having AF, but apparently we have been added to the list of vulnerable for the vaccine, just had a look at another Dr's surgery near me and there list is the same as well

Yes, that's right: it's identified as a relevant underlying health condition in the 'Green book' Chapter relating to Covid vaccinations. And they're acting on it: I'm 46, with paroxysmal AF, and I had a phone call from my GP this morning, booking me a vaccination slot this weekend.

Good news then, yes im 50 had my second ablation last year n all been really good for the last 6 months, she was ringing to tell me not to worry if it was a while before i heard anything because there doing a lot of second vaccinations this week, it was still good news for me because i didn't even think we we're on the list lol.

According to a recent post AF ‘should be considered’ as a condition qualifying for cohort 6 and whether it is offered depends on the GPs clinical judgement (if I understood it correctly) but I am sure most doctors would err on the side of caution.

Strange isnt it. My husband was diagnosed with left ventricular dysfunction when he was 23, now 58 and has been on medication for it for the past thirty years. At no time has he been listed in a vulnerable group and has never been offered a flu jab by the GP. When he worked many years for the nhs he always had one but that was because he worked for them not personal health mvulnerability.

The last few years he has had a flu jab at the local pharmacy and paid for it. The last one however he was given free because he was taking enalapril which out him in the category for a fee jab. He has been taking enalapril for years. It seems a bit of a lottery. Reading the guidance he should be in cohort 6 condition wise and in reality is being categorised in cohort 8.

I have been reading today again of younger people with no underlying conditions being called, a number of them celebrities who say they have no underlying conditions. It looks as though things are less clear in the current cohort being called for vaccination.

Obviously there is a lot of flux right now. My wife who is 64 (65 in July) has heard nothing , not even a text from GP saying don't call us we will call you like myself and my two boys of 31 and 28. Neighbour who is just 65 this week has an appintment on Thursday.

My view is grab when you can.

Yep - I am 64 and received a text on Sunday night, appointment confirmed on Monday. Vaccination on Wednesday. Can only assume that it is my very occasional and successfully medicated AF that has triggered the invitation as Husband is same age and has heard nothing. Surgery website says that they had a surprise allocation of vaccine, so were obviously trying to access suitable recipients asap. I responded immediately!

From what I understand afibbers are 'number 6' on the list. 65 and above will be done first then it's us lot (16 - 64). Under 64 of course.

This is from the dailymail - not always the best medicial source to consult. However I'll put the link below - you'll need to scroll down to see the 'who gets the vaccine first'.

Yes , I got a message yesterday and have mine booked for later on today . I also understand that the NHS are now using AFIB as one of their measures in calculating if you need to shield ..

I’m 49, my current GP is very supportive and I’ve always had the Flu Jab. Sadly I think it depends on your surgery .

I got the call today and I'm booked in next week😊 my other half is 50 and he got his last week and he has no major health issues. I think it's down also to where you live, we are in Yorkshire and apparently we have a good supply of them xxx

This Winter was the first time I had a flu jab. I had telephoned my GP surgery about something else but apparently I have been red flagged for the flu jabs but no one had ever contacted me about it. When I made enquiries about the Covid vaccine, I was told I would ordinarily be group 6 with AF but I was hotched up to group 2 due to my job and had my vaccine last Saturday.
