Well, quite simply, you have to press for an explanation/reasons as to why he wants to change your medication.

Thanks 10gingercats thats what i will have to do..i have made an appointment to see if the change in medications is the right choice for me

I’m with ectopic on this.....I take 120mg daily and have had no problems for four years now. For me, it’s significantly better than Bisoprolol....

I take diltiazem 120mg once a day and I’m happy with it, can’t take bisoprolol because of asthma.

You don't have to feel tired, there are other drugs out there which can give you back almost a normal life again. Bisoprolol was awful for me, I am on Atenolol now and feel great.

Dilitaziem gave me swollen legs. Bisoprolol made me fatigued. I am now on Nebivolol. Heart rate is up with some peculiar beats. Seeing cardio9in New Year. Change can be a good thing!

I had dreadfully swollen ankles on Tildium. Apparently Bob couldn't get his shoes on when he took it.

Yes I had Tilden 200mg mod release it is diltiazem hydrochloride,a calcium channel blocker. I was not on it lo g as it was difficult for my pharmacy to get so I was switched to another similar brand of diltiazem.

I did not get on with it, brain fog, poor memory , breathlessness and exercise intolerance.

Having said that I believe I was over medicated on the 200mg.

Also this was a lot better for me than bisoprolol or Atenolol the two beta blockers that I tried. I was asleep 40 minutes after taking a 1.25mg bisoprolol

A lot of people get on with diltiazem from what I have read. Everyone is different.

Try it you can always come back off it,

I stuck with Bisoprolol for two and a half years not realising that a different drug might be more comfortable. I agree it is worrying to think of the side effects of a different drug but it might be better than the current one and if it isn’t you can go back to Bisoprolol - or something different. I’m currently on Atenolol but it’s not working so well any more so aim to do something about it soon!

I think it because im relatively new to this af journey and chopping changing different medication is just a part of it..will be positive and see how it goes

Thanks

I blame Bisoprolol for making me depressed. I moved to Tildiem and was immediately much better - no side effects at all. My pharmacy has recently had trouble supplying Tildiem 90mg and my doctor switched me to Adizem 90mg - still Diltiazem. I haven't noticed any difference at all between the two versions.

Its a beta blocker.

Just google it, check the side effects, BUT by all means ask why the change and then listen to your body.

My doc suggested beta blockers,so after 1 week of taking, all I did was sleep, 20 hrs a day. Once I found out why,, I got off of them immediately. Quality of life !

Well- 1.25mg of bisoprolol was dangerous for me taken daily (stopped after three days) so if your dose causes you to feel tired (as mine did) it seems perfectly sensible to try something else but you need something to control the rhythm of your heart rather than the rate only which bisoprolol (and presumably other beta blockers) does. You are fortunate to have a cardiologist who cares for you as an individual- don't knock it!
