Shouldn't do although I avoid PPIs if I possibly can and never for more than a couple of weeks. Not good for you.

I took them for years then found my af was worse while on them so stopped. Tried other ppis and got the same outcome. I was talked into trying them again towards the end of last year and had more and more ectopics and several af episodes. Personally I wouldn't take them again.

Don't like ppis for a number of reasons certainly not long term usage. I don't know what it is about them that triggers af in me but whatever it is I am not risking it again, I have read they can mess with magnesium levels but I don't know if that is true.

Thank you for this. Have taken them for a couple of weeks and have had a few episodes. Given that I only had a couple of episodes a year I think this has caused them

Yes I think they do trigger AF. I had two sessions of taking them. My first AF started after a few months on these tablets. And a year or so later i had to take them again for a month and it happened again. I think they deplete your magnesium levels. But the tablets cleared my ulcer. I would be reluctant to take them again.

I take Lansoprozol and have read lots on this forum about magnesium. Thought I would start Mg supplements, but decided to have a blood test first. The result said I was mid-limit, so no point in taking the supplement and the PPI's hadn't depleted my Mg level.

I've also read on the forum about Lanzo triggering AF and have decided to half my dosage in order to see if my stomach acid doesn't increase to give me reflux, plus to see if my AF frequency extends. It's too early to tell on both matters, but so far so good.

I should add that I take my Lanzo first thing in the morning with around 200ml of water, then do 30 minutes light yoga (stretching and breathing exercises) before taking any other food or drink. I think that time gap is important.

Oh dear....... I have been on these for 8 years for a hiatus hernia and acid reflux. Now I have something else to worry about as they increased the dosage after my stroke (caused by AF) to 30 mg when they put me on Apixaban. I have never linked them to AF but when ever I miss a dose I suffer such strong acid reflux that I can't imagine how I would cope without them.

Have you tried probiotics? My gastro consultant suggested I take them and I was able to stop the nexium some weeks later. I feel ppi s def mess with magnesium levels. Best of luck.

Thank you. I must do some more research on this.
