Does anyone have any more up to date info than what has been posted from a year ago?

Can't think back that long....I still get my test strips for INR free.

Don't know what was said a year ago but nice published guidance that basically said GPs have to support this if you're of sound mind. The guidance is fairly easy to find online - I printed it off and used it to get my GP to cooperate!!

I have the NICE guidelines and had printed them off last year and brought Section IX into my GP as I knew he would contest my request, and I wanted to have written proof that he could, in fact, order them. However, it is the CCG now who are saying I cannot have them on prescription, when there is one other person, whom I know for certain, is getting them on prescription. This is my frustration. If one can receive them on script, all should be able to. It is the CCG and Trust combined who are preventing this.

I still get mine on the NHS.

Just tell your GP you want to change to apixaban because you don't want to buy the strips any more.

What would that achieve Mike?

Either a prescription for free strips or a prescription for apixaban. Either is cheaper than paying list price for the strips.

The GP is already paying for the warfarin, so strips swapped out for apixaban is not a like-for -like switch.

In addition, I WANT to continue on warfarin....it works for me. If I wanted to be switched, I would have said "Yes" to my Haemo when she suggested a switch.
