Will energy and enthusiasm for life come back once ablation is done ?

That depends a lot on you. It will take three to six months for full recovery but above all a positive approach is most important.
like Bob say's a lot of it is down to you. it took me 6 months to feel normal again, I was then hit with a bunch of other health issues that continue to knock me for six.
And, it can also depend on what meds you are on, and what you can stop taking post ablation.
I can honestly say, that despite all my other issues I feel a lot better than when I was in AF
Thanks , guess time will tell. I have put on over a stone in weight guess thats not helping. dont know whether this is a side effect of the medication or the fact that despite a much bigger effort on my part to complete tasks I am just not doing as much physical as I did.
I developed an Atrial Flutter at the end of August, four weeks on Bisoprolol and rivaroxaban. Then the ablation. Two days of feeling like a truck had run over me but heart rhythm back to normal. Then on the Monday a fibrillation started apparently a side effect. So three more weeks on the medication and Cardioversion last Friday. Normal again. Three months on anti-Arrhythmia and rivaroxaban then see the Consultant again. My history has been a walk in the park compared to so many lovely people I read about here. I am a 62 year old lawyer, fit and happy. Run, cycle, row, ride a Harley. But has it knocked me for six, yes it has. But the most positive piece of advice is just get on with it as albeit with some modifications (which may end up being life extending in their own right) it is something that can be accommodated. The fibrillation after the flutter knocked me back, but the Cardioversion appears to have fixed it, so just concentrating now on getting fit again.
Good luck, the advances in Ablation and other linked procedures make us the lucky generation.
Hi there
For me, quality of life and energy improved 100% BUT it did take 6 months before I really started to feel fully recovered enough to take up "extended" exercise again. I'm afraid you have to learn to be patient.... for me, it was totally worth it.
Mindfulness, meditation, walking a way to start . Don't head back into full paced life as quickly as the medics tend to encourage! Not sure many of them have had an ablation themselves! I did take advise from posts I read on this site about moving forward gently and really learning to listen to your body. Two and a half years on, still ok, but after a period of prolonged emotional stress, I have noticed ❤️ Can play up a little and it has made me realise Ablation is not a cure but is pretty dam good and I don't want to take it for granted or undo the good it has done so responsibility also lies with me to respect my heart and mind and sometimes do things differently. SO ...yes it sure can bring your energy back, but I think one always has to be mindful of ones condition for life.
Good luck
Best wishes
Sarah
Thanks everyone ....onwards and forwards if not quite upwards....yet lol
Yes! But I had to reduce my Bisoprolol to stop feeling tired. It has taken 4/5 months for me
Yes quite possibly. I am a lot better since I had an ablation AND then stopped the meds! (The rate control drug to be more precise)
Everyone responds and heals differently to the procedure. I had catheter cryoablation 3.5 weeks ago. For me, it has been a catastrophe. I developed post-procedural ocular migraines, which have been scary and painful. I still feel out of breath, depressed, anxious, restless, and ‘off.’ I was very fit before, walking for 2-3 hours every single day. Now I’m exhausted and out of breath everywhere I go. I have also been getting dizzy, confused, and forgetful. I know it’s from the procedure, but I don’t know exactly why or how. It has been completely miserable.
But, I consulted several people I personally knew prior to having the procedure, all who had the procedure themselves. None of them had any difficulty whatsoever.
So who knows. It may go great for you, or it might be terrible. No way to know other than to find out for yourself.
Thanks, I actually dont feel to bad just very heavy and weak for what I want to do..The meds have never agreed with me flecanide sending me in to orbit , though I didnt feel it and bisporal made me horizontal.. now very high blood pressure to add to the mix. At one point I experienced the out of breath and body pain for almost 2 weeks (that was bad and what I guess many of the folk here experience) anyway I went really ill with SVT , AF and a drop in BP I was taken into A&E had a cardioversion ? = where they shock ? and at least have never had any more of those symptoms again (6mths) Yeh I do believe its individual, but knowledge is power and it is good to be able to talk the talk with the medics, which I have only been able to do through gaining the knowledge from this site .
