Very interesting. Thanks for sharing. I have a mildly leaking Mitral Valve which the cardiologist says is nothing to worry about but if it gets worse when I get older it’s good to see innovations that may help if needed.

It is the MitraClip, which has been in the pipeline for many years. Google this, there are over 200,000 hits. Still, it was new to me.

The Mail article referred to a recent article in the New England Journal of Medicine, one of the top journals, so must be taken seriously.

It is open access, and not too difficult to read. Here are the conclusions:

In conclusion, among patients with heart failure and moderate-to-severe or severe secondary mitral regurgitation who remained symptomatic despite the use of maximal doses of guideline-directed medical therapy, transcatheter mitral-valve repair resulted in a lower rate of hospitalization for heart failure, lower mortality, and better quality of life and functional capacity within 24 months of follow-up than medical therapy alone, and the prespecified goal for freedom from device-related complications was met.

it is certainly another treatment worth watching.
