Oh how beautiful! The kind of view my lovely sister would call ‘balm for the soul’ 😊
What city is this in? How serene!
It’s Budligh Salterton, East Devon a really old fashioned, small seaside town. Bit like going back to the 1950s. No amusements - just small boat fishermen selling their catch on the beach, the local open water swimmers doing their thing, kayakers, walkers and families - oh and the nudists about half mile under the cliff face if you really want a bit of excitement and wander too far.
The river is the River Otter - unfortunately no Otters on it but there are wild beavers a few miles inland, and an old water mill still producing whole-wheat flour at Otterton - just as they did about 200 years ago with white washed, thatched cottages - oooh..... maybe I could get a new career in marketing.
But please don’t share this secret with anyone else - we like to keep it quiet.
Definately balm for the soul - 😍
🤣 Secret is safe! 🤫. That is one of the most wonderful places! They still grind wheat! Small boat fisherman! No commercialism! Families! You should get a career in marketing!!! That sounds heavenly.
I am so delighted to see places that are not exploited. We have gone way too far to provide artificial entertainment that fatten pockets and ruin families.
Gorgeous view,. I was looking for a small holiday apartment on rightmove yesterday in south Devon but put a wider radius in the search and up popped a lovely one in Budleigh Salterton. Glorious part of the country. Typical we are having a hot summer as we sold our holiday house in Torquay over the winter after twenty five years going there regularly. Miss it more than I could possibly have imagined. Enjoy your lovely beach.
Looks lovely So relaxing
How lovely! Where is that? Got to visit!
A place I know well - as a child we regularly went to Budleigh to buy fish for supper. As a child I did not like the pebbles on the beach though, bit much on small feet getting down to the water. I still go there when we are visiting home (Exeter) for a quiet stroll along the front.

I hope it’s a little cooler on the coast than it is inland. I’m in north Buckinghamshire so you’d be hard pressed to find anywhere in the UK further from the coast. 😎
I'm on my way! need directions from Atlanta, please. irina
How beautiful CD, I could just run into that ocean at the moment, I am sweltering 😥😓
Wow... Going to put Budleigh Salterton on my 'visit' list! One of our daughters lives in Devon so it's not much of a detour
How do you insert a photo into a message. Then I can show my secret coastal walk ?
Beautiful, I'm always drawn to the sea and Feel relaxed there tbh, my beach Seaham isn't as exotic but its still picturesque . Did my 2.4km walk this morning, but misty but cooler thankfully, not bad as a few weeks ago had problems even walking to the car, looks Superb Zen spot that CD, idyllic 👌
