Just wondering, has anyone on here had an angioseal vascular closure device fitted after an ablation?
I never had one with my first ablation but have had one with my second done last week.
Are you supposed to feel/see the lump under your skin afterwards?
I can find info on how it works etc but can't find much info about them and what they should feel like after they are fitted. Is it safe to exercise etc before they dissolve?
It's making me squeamish! Any experiences?
Thanks

Yes I had one inserted but only on one occasion when I had one of my ablations.
As I think you now know it is designed to assist with the closure and sealing and to minimise post procedure bleeding of the puncture in the vein in your groin.
Nothing to worry about, you will feel a lump for a while but ultimately it will disappear. I think it was a few months but my memory fails me.
Reassuring that the lump is normal thank you, it's so disturbing to see ha ha
I liked it better the first ablation when I didn't have the seal , my heart hasn't been a problem since my operation but my leg pain has definitely made up for that!
Yes I had a angiogram and had a angioseal inserted and I was told that It would feel like a pea shape where it was inserted, and would go after a month, which it did .
I was not told I had any seals with my two Ablation s but was told I would have hard lumps where the catheters were inserted and not to worry about them
So I didn't!
No problems with them
So I suggest you don' t worry either if there is no bleeding!
Think they forgot to give me a patient information leaflet on them so I knew nothing about them at all when I left . I got one sent to me in the post shortly after though which reassured me.
I've actually kind of got used to the marble sized lump now. It's definitely shocking finding such a big lump in your leg when I had nothing like that on my first ablation. I'll know for Nxt time... Altho fingers crossed there is no next time ha ha!
