Pills!

Yesterday I went to the audiology department at the local hospital to get my hearing aids sorted before we take Hylda the Hymer back to her fatherland!

Gentleman next to me was a very sprightly 96, driving a Harley style mobility scooter. He proudly announced he only took one pill a day and that got me thinking!

I take 8 for my heart and 2 for my thyroid plus various supplements and I’m 22 years younger. Still can’t say I’m on top form either!

Does anybody else resemble a rattlesnake when they walk?

Not yet, but loved the reference to Hylda the Hymer! We had Tickie, Bumble and Waggie before my husband got fed up with using a motorhome. I have discovered to my horror that this is partly because it doesn't go fast enough, 80mph on the motorway in our tiny Mazda and he is 82..... I felt a lot safer in the campervan 😨 He takes only two pills a day and will definitely want a Harley style mobility scooter if the day comes when he needs one. The way I'm going I think I'll get one and make him jealous 😁

dats my gal!!!

Hello Di, around 3/4 months after diagnosis I was taking Bisoprolol, Diltiazem, Digoxin and Warfarin, after a CV I was able to ditch the Bisop and Digoxin, but after a year, they added 2 x 50 mg Flecainide and the Warfarin was swopped for Apixaban. Now it's just Diltiazem and Apixaban. So don't rattle as much as I used too, but I have another ablation looming!!

Have a lovely and safe trip to Deutschland, we are sticking to the UK as I could get the call anytime!!

Hope you get your ablation asap.

Di

Unfortunately I rattle like a tube of Smarties as well and I’m not yet 60. On Amiodarone, Ramipril, Bisoprolol, Amlodopine, Hydroxycarbamide, Riveroxyban, Tamsulosin, Dutasteride, Solfinacin, Simvstatin and Lanzoprozole.

It’s sorting out when to take them. Levo to be taken on empty stomach away from anything else. Flecainide to be taken on empty stomach. Pradaxa morning and evening. Usually start about 4am when I get up for the loo! Heaven help me if I sleep through!!

I also take my tablets at carefully caculated times according to the istructions but during overnight stays in hospital they shove them all in a medicine container and tel me to take them all at the same time!

I have 7 of them I take in the morning as I get up and others I take at tea time as some have fatigue effects such as the Hydroxycarbamide which is a chemo drug then I hopefully sleep through most of those effects.

Hi I've just stating cutting down.. Very slowly stopped Citolopram and lansporozole my bisoprolol has been changed to Sotolol and that leaves Losartan, Doxozosin and edoxaban. I am starting to feel a bit better more energy which is good but still not brilliant. I have asked for a 2nd opinion and awaiting appointment with Dr Sharma at St Georges hoping he will reduce drugs maybe do an ablation. I've had to surrender my driving licence because of AF And SVT. I'm 60 years old.

I seem to be getting them added in two and threes every time I turn round

I have just been reading 'The 4 Pillar Plan' by Dr Rangan Chatterjee of BBC's 'Dr in the House' fame. He makes very simple and practical suggestions of ways of improving our health by simple changes in lifestyle, and reckons that enough such changes should tip our health from deteriorating to improving. He suggests twenty options, five each in the categories: relax, food, sleep and exercise, and he encourages you to try any one to make a difference, and up to twelve or more to tip you into better health. Then you might be able to decrease medications instead of increasing them!

You might find it an interesting read. I will certainly be trying to make some changes . . .
