Yes, that's quite normal. Don't go doing anything too strenuous for a while and let your heart build up strength in it's normal rhythm

Thank you for your reply will definitely take it easy for the next few days so scared in case it goes back to AF !!!

Yes quite normal. As a veteran of 17 + cardioversions I found it took several days to feel normal again. I had the feeling that I was about to flip back into AF again......never did though!

If you never flipped back, why 17 cardioversions ? Looking to get one myself soon

in reply toNugger

Ha! I did think afterwards that I should have qualified that statement! I really meant that I did not flip back into AF in the following days....not years. My cardioversions have lasted as long as 4/5 years at one point, commonly 1 year and latterly 4/6 months but my last one was nearly 12 months ago.

That is good news !! That’s how I feel as though I will slip back !

I was genuinely surprised how much my cardioversion took out of me. being back in NSR felt great and I was all raring to go, but my body was saying "take time" - took me about a week to feel a lot less tired. and then I went skiing....:-)

I have had 13 in a 4 year period, I have found it also depends on how long you were in afib before cardio version. My body was more exhausted if I had been in it a while. My longest stint of time was 3 1/2 months in the beginning, they could not get meds correct and I would not convert. I immediately feel like a new person, part of it is such a happy feeling! When I had the long period it took a good while to be back to normal, but if it was a day or two of afib I bounced back quickly, 2-3 days. Hope this helps because mine varied more based of length of time in afib.

How many can they do ?? I’m so glad I can ask kind people on this forum as I wouldn’t know who to ask !! I only got diagnosed in November so all this is new to me and from some one who was always healthy Never took any medication it has come as I huge shock !!!

Yes, same here, no medications, and no health issues. They have never told me about a limit of times for cardio versions, although the fact that I do go into NSR is a indication of being a candidate for a ablation from what I was told. In my particular case, I wish I had gone sooner for ablation. I had refused twice, I kept thinking I could take better care and it would be controlled, but I was wrong. At this point they found during my ablation I had excessive scarring in the Atrium from being in afib which they suspect is the reason why when I go into afib, I do convert without a DC cardioversion. I should have gone ahead and not waited, it is too soon to know how successful my partial ablation was?

After ablation, does the blood begin circulating better in the body? I am a 37 year old male. Once was strong and fit. Now I am skinny and weak. I am having my first ablation in a couple weeks. Hoping that soon I can go back to exercising.
