If your heart rate is still very high then yes . Running flat out is not good for your heart so bringing it back to a more normal level is right.

I had AF for 25 years. After my 6th ablation for AF I converted to Atrial Tachycardia.

In August I had another ablation to address to Atrial Tachycardia.

I have been AF and Tachycardia free since.

I have had Ectopics but that is all.

Hope this helps.

Hi Gerrieo

A little confused, a cardioversion will only work if you are in AF or tachycardia at the time of the cardioversion, if you are coming in and out then no it does not seem sensible.

Having said that there are very few downsides, of a CV (cardioversion) it's fairly safe (nothing is 100%) and has few if any side effects, just some soreness sometimes afterwards.

Be well

Ian

Sorry I misread the post.

I thought you had been offered an ablation for the Tachycardia.

I tend to agree with Ian the Beancounter .

Once again apologies.

Pete

Hi gerrieo. In 2011 when first dx in ER with AF. I had a sleep study, was put on a C-PAP machine, started on Pradaxa. Four weeks later I had my first cardioversion. It put me back in NSR immediately and I stayed AF-free without meds for 3 years. Definitely worth it for me. Take care. irina1975
