If you type Holiday insurance in search box top right of page it should give you some advice.

We use the online broker allclear

Try Staysure or Allclear. There are others and there’s a list on this site somewhere. Can’t find it at the moment.

no- you'll find it's more expensive if you are waiting for procedures or have been hospitalised in the correct year- otherwise no problems

A couple of friends recommended Free Spirit to me. They got excellent quotes.

Here's the AFA page on holiday insurance...

Just tried this link and it didn't accept me online as I'm waiting for a cardio version. An email confirms that they would rather speak to me. I'm with Avanti at the moment and paying £433 pa worldwide, really would love to find someone cheaper !

Try Staysure. They cover me for previous AF episodes and other health issues

None what so ever - and I declare 3 conditions. Stick to the medical specialists and ask to speak directly with the j Dee writers if you encounter difficulty.

I got cover through Allclear some of the others wouldn't cover me because I was on a waiting list for an ablation which should have been on 3rd Jan but I got cancelled because of the current NHS bed crisis .

Im curious why waiting for ablation makes insurance companies nervousabout holiday cover ..wonder why?

I think it's in case you have to cancel your holiday for the ablation procedure .Some of the companies wouldn't offer me insurance cover because I was on a waiting list

Thank you Ladypaula, I am on the waiting list for an Ablation but could be 12 months away, I am taking Amiodarobe to keep in rhthm and it is working well, can you tell me was it very expensive to get the insurance, thanks

Yes it was a lot more expensive than when I wasn't on a waiting list for ablation .

Yes need to make sure you have got the proper insurance to cover you when away on hols and for peace of mind .I'm 10weeks post 2nd ablation it's taken some getting over this time but am on the mend now still having episodes of AF but am still hoping it will settle down .

Hi, do hope you feel better soon, I really don't know what to expect from an Ablation, fortunately I am quite well at the moment due to the meds, I am taking Amiodarobe and Apixaban which seems to be keeping my heart in rhythm but would rather be meds free, take care x

Hi I have insurance through my bank- but was loaded once I told them I have AF. I also looked online for annual and 1 trip holiday insurance-- worked out more than the loading at the bank. Sems as soon as the 'heart box' is ticked we come under high level risk-- even though AF itself is not life threatening especially once diagnosed and on meds--- think of all the undiagnosed that do not have trouble with holiday insurance--- they are the higher risk!

Not at all. The best I found was via opening a Nationwide Flexiplus account and getting their world wide travel insurance for both me and my lartner for £13 a month, plus I pay a premium of £100 for my AF.

I transferred to the Flexiplus account because of the benefits. The premium to include my husband (off road motorcycling) and my AFib was still very reasonable and the other benefits made it a win win situatiuon for us. However travel cover isn't offered anymore I believe.,

It is on the FlexiPlus account. I have just had my renewal notice.

Really interesting. I wonder what prompted the U turn?

They are scrapping the perk on the Flexiaccount, the FlexiPlus still offers the perk. Hope you manage to sort it

Hi I spent 2 weeks & tried about 15 companies without a lot of look . My additional problem was getting 90 trips on Annual policy , also my age 69. Staysure covered me . Standard 50 days per trip & up to age 70 I can get one trip extended to 100 days for a extra £33.

LV that I have been with for years wouldnt cover me.

Hope you get cover ok.

I got a good deal with puffin insurance which I found on a comparison website. They even gave me a partial refund after my ablation.
