My husband had heart palpitations last night. I took a Kardia reading which said possible Afib. My question is should he see a Cardiologist first or go directly to a electrophysiologest?

Cardiologist or electrophysiologest
Goldie is right, Kadia's are really helpful for monitoring the heart after diagnosis but are not really designed for making an initial diagnosis, which is probably one reason why you dont see many Doctors using them!! Unless you have private health insurance, I would think you need a referral from your GP to see any specialist, but there is some basic ground to cover first and this should be undertaken by your GP. If there are any signs of AF, the most important thing to establish is if there is a need to be anticoagulated and that would also be undertaken by your GP.
VIrtually the entire population suffers from occasional palputations and ectopics, so try not to get too worried as hopefully, it is not AF. If it is, then it is best to be referred to an EP (Electrophysiologist).....lets hope that that will not become necessary.......
Electrophysiologist, think of it like this.....the GeneralPractitioner is the equivalent of ageneral handyman, the cardiologist is in charge of plumbing, and the EP in charge of electrics!! If your pipes are blocked= cardio....etc!
