Can anyone tell me if they have had an ablation with Dr Debono in Birmingham. Seems like a nice chap.

Hi Nacnoon

I've had two, the first in Sept 16 for the flutter an the second two weeks ago for the fibulation it exposed. Dr. Debono was very efficient as was the QE nursing staff. His explanations were concise and accurate. He is a very 'nice chap' and the team at the hospital were very good. I have no other experience of another EP for comparison but have only praise for this one.

Not Dr Debono but I've had Howard Marshall and Griffiths at the QE and very pleased with the results, especially my first ablation which worked totally for at least 8 years.

Although not at Birmingham, I had Mr Hyatt at Coventry university hospital. Totally brilliant, not a murmur since my first ablation in early September and no Ill effects whatsoever afterwards. Would highly recommend the team there.

Had two procedures with Dr Debono, he and the whole team were excellent, very professional and knowledgeable. As said above the descriptions and explanations are easy to follow. I did 'choose' this Dr and I am glad I did.

I am also under Dr De Bono, originally privately at The Priory but now changed to seeing him at the QE (next appointment next month). He is indeed a very nice man.

I have not had an ablation (because of other health problems), we agreed we should try to control my PAF with lifestyle changes and meds (Diltiazem, Flecainide and Warfarin). I know it's unlikely to stop it forever but am happy to leave as is without ruling out having a procedure in the future.

I think you can rely on him to do the right thing for you as an individual and you can't ask for anything more.

Good luck.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I'm now on a list for an ablation at Birmingham QE hospital. I didn't realise it would be a general anasthetic which I'm not looking forward to. It may be Dr Debono or it could be one of his colleagues. He says they are all good but I'm not sure about the pot luck side of it. As I get some kind of episode every day I would be very glad to get rid of it but it was worrying when he rattled of the list of things that can go wrong.
