Stroke Risk Lower for Paroxysmal vs Persistent or Permanent AF: interesting Medscape article

Apologies if someone has already posted this, but I didn't spot it when I scrolled down through my feed a couple of times...

There's an interesting article on the Medscape website - I'm not sure, but I think that people may need to have registered (for free) to read it - that was posted yesterday, reporting a study suggesting that 'Patients who had paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF) had a significantly lower risk of stroke/systemic embolic event as well as all-cause death over a median 2.8-year follow-up than patients with persistent or permanent AF, in a new study'.

Anyhow, here's the link: medscape.com/viewarticle/87...

Very interesting. I went to the original paper as I had expected those in the paroxysmal af group to be younger, but they weren't although they did have a larger number of women and I noted had a higher incidence of bleeding problems

Fingers crossed my paf doesn't progress then
