There is an antidote to Pradaxa called Praxbind.

I don't think that you actually take it. It could be given to you in an emergency situation.

Praxbind is only available in hospitals to be used in emergency situations. For example should you have an accident that requires immediate surgery, and would not be prescribed to take regularly.

Sorry my post was confusing---I meant to say "Is anyone taking Dabigattan(Pradaxa) and if so--any problems?

I onlymentioned the fact that there is an antidote as it makes it more of an attractive (!) therapy now that there is an antidote if needed--unlike Rivaroxoban and Apixaban.

I have been taking Pradaxa for over 2 years. There is no testing beyond an annual kidney function test.

You take a capsule every 12 hours. It needs an acid stomach so antacids are not a good idea. The capsules are fragile and dissolve if placed onto a damp saucer, releasing vast numbers of vile tasting white balls.

Pradaxa suits me very well and is liberating after warfarin and my unstable INR. I got the impression that Dr Gupta was a fan. Try to see his video about anticoagulants.

Hi yes I have been taking Dabigatran for several months now, and so far no major problems. I always take them with food, as when on the odd occasion I have taken them on an empty stomach I have had slight indigestion. Other than that no problems. FYI I was told by my GP that most A&E departments have the antidote for emergencies.

I've been taking Pradaxa for a few months after a possible poor reaction to Apixaban and, previous pulmonary toxicity ruled out Rivaroxaban. I can have a significant reaction to some medication, but I've not had a problem with Pradaxa. I haven't had any bleeding problems when I've had a canula removed or a blood sample has been taken. I've had a long term slow heart rate from aerobic exercise, but since being on Pradaxa my heart rate is higher. As I use a rip saw and bill hook for clearing scrub, it's good to know that Praxbind is available if I do have a serious bleed.
