Many thanks. Really good! I didn't much like what it had to say about me - but then I did already know my stroke risk would be higher than normal - but it could have been worse.

Interesting but not the complete picture surely. My risk was 7% higher than normal for my age yet AF makes us 5 times more likely to have a stroke (20%) Also there is no place in there regarding anticoagulation which reduces any risk significantly.

Till we get something better I will stick to CHADSVASC thank you.

I agree .. Mine was quite high risk also,

But as you say does not mention any type of anticoagulants you take.,

Don't think it's much use for anyone already on anticoagulation, perhaps it's designed to persuade people of the need for anticoagulation.

My wife (81) could answer NO to all of the questions but it does not ask if she has ever had a TIA. She has not noticed one but head scan showed past evidence of at least one.

Well, you've made me feel a whole lot better, seasider, because my score was 18.

You have a 15.7% chance of not having a stroke in 10 years and it's always possible to find yourself in that little group instead of joining the majority.

18, you'll just need to try harder!

To cheer you up even more. We actually both feel like death at the moment. My wife had a bad bout of norovirus on Tuesday night. I phoned 111 and they had a doctor phone me back. He thought it sounded more like a blockage in the bowel and said to dial 999 for an ambulance. The paramedic examined her and disagreed with his diagnosis and phoned another doctor who agreed with her.

She said if no better by lunch time or still concerned to contact our GP. By then she was bringing up masses of dark green bile. The doctor was reassuring. By yesterday I did not feel to good, cold, shivering ,nauseous and headache with rumbling tummy. At night I felt afraid to go to bed and lay down.

I went into the bedroom woke my wife and went to sit on my bed but passed out before I got to it. I came to on the floor with sweat pouring off me. I had caught my ear, shoulder and the top of my chest on the corner of the bed . The impact of the fall broke a castor off the bed and moved it up against my wife's one. Good job it was not on the pacemaker side.

I sat on the edge of the bed till 3.30 being sick into a bowl when suddenly it stopped and I managed to lay down and sleep. Still feel grotty this morning and ache all over from the fall. There is a big bruise and broken skin on my shoulder and massive bruise coming up on my chest that I have covered in miracle homeopathic Arnica cream.

I have not faced food yet and have only had a cup of tea and a glass of water.

Oh really! So sorry to hear all this. Life's not fair at all, is it? We've a few people on the forum who are getting more than their fair share of woe at the moment.

I hope you'll be like my other half and me - we both had a bad spell two years ago and we're just so happy to be significantly better.

As regards scores, there are times when the older you get, the better you do!

Walking down the street yesterday two young mothers pushing prams said that they had been watching us and it was so lovely to see us holding hands at our age.

I told them that we are coming up for our Diamond Anniversary but the hand holding is relatively recent and to stop us from falling over:-)

That might be so, but it looks good, doesn't it!

Indeed it does. We have been getting a lot of such comments recently but it is all down to the numbness I have in my left foot.
