I can't take warfarin cos it gives me constant headaches. The Dabigatran is too huge for me to swallow, I know stupid... And now I have been taken off rivaroxaban, for fear it is damaging my liver. What next I wonder??!

Does it still work through the liver though?

My understanding is no, it is processed via kidneys. That's what I was told but double check with your EP.

Hi lindabob, Since starting rivaroxaban I have been diagnosed with non alcoholic fatty liver disease. I was particularly keen on keeping an eye on my liver function because of the rivaroxaban. lately my gp seems to have lost interest as the Gamma gt (indicates liver probs) levels were dropping a bit. No one suggesting I stop riva. I m confused as I am also diabetic and apparently this is also a reason to get nafl disease. It's all a bit of a nightmare isn't it? Let us know what they suggest next for you. JanR

Oh that's interesting. I have been ill with a suspected viral liver infection since October. Only just been taken off rivaroxaban . What are you taking now?

I'm still on rivaroxaban. It just seemed a bit coincidental that all of a sudden I should get a liver problem after starting riva. Nobody else seems bothered (medics) so I'll go with the flow for now. Hope your infection clears up.

After my anti coag nurse, my gp and haematology at our hospital got together for a chat they all decided that coming off it for a while was the right thing to do. I am now improving, although to complicate matters I was getting better slowly before I stopped taking it😊
