Just found this article in the Mail - so much of what is written in it has been emphasised by many of this forum's posters:
Getting involved . . .: Just found... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Getting involved . . .
Thanks- great article As we keep saying, Knowledge is power.
Interesting article. I've just spent an hour reading all the comments that go with it too. Thank you for posting.
That's EXACTLY what I have been saying here all along.
The only way to move forward with finding solutions is to proactively manage our health with our physicians.
Gone are the days when a Dr had the time to sit and assess every patient thoroughly., These days you feel lucky if you can keep their attention for more than 5 minutes.
This reminds me I need to hunt for a new cardiologist. The one I have runs multiple appointments at once from different rooms - how anyone can give you the level of care and thought you need when they are stretching themselves across 2 consultations at once is beyond me.
Very good article but not sure about giving your GP a firm handshake when you first meet, i.e. after everyone else with every complaint you can imagine has just done the same. Maybe if the Dr had a bottle of hand gel you could use after shaking hands it'd be OK, but it might spoil the introduction
Interesting that 15% of all initial diagnosis are incorrect. I'd say from experience that with some problems, like serious cancers that aren't visible, it's FAR higher. 100% wrong in our family on numerous occasions. I think the 15% is watered down by minor, easy to detect ailments so is probably misleading to say the least.
So take things into your own hands, absolutely.
