I have - twice! First one was 6 and a half hours, second 3 and a half! I know others on here have also had it, but an hour seems unlikely.
I have conjoined pulmanory veins which enter my heart as a large hole instead of 2 small holes. I have read that up to 25% of the population have this abnormality. The cryo- balloon is too small to ablate this.
I did one 2 months ago. Was under for 4.5 hours- so no walk in the park there. I still get episodes of AF lasting anywhere from a few minutes to 3 or 4 hours. I am afraid we may be scheduling round two soon.
Good luck!
Cryo balloon ablation is useful for people with simple AF where only the four pulmonary veins are firing off. If there are other sites then RF will be needed. What you have been reading is the stuff from Prof Schilling who has some new fast method but see above.
Endorse the above I had one last month and it took 3.5 hours, although I think the recovery time can be a bit less under the freezing method, I was a week before fully back to normal albeit taking things steady.
Good luck if and when you go ahead
I had my first one earlier this month. It was stopped after 2 hours due to hitting the phrenic nerve so i'm not sure how long it could've lasted.
Unfortunately that method never worked on me had to go back to the old method. Each person reacts differently to different methods. I was in a test batch a few years ago alongside another lady. She has never had any problems since the procedure, whereas I did and was told subsequently that it had not worked on me hence the normal procedure for it.
