Hi forum,

I see some people take flecanide, bispohorol as a Pill in the pocket technique for AF - is there a magic pill for blood clotting or do you need to be on a daily tablet?

Thanks

If only . . .

Anticoagulants need to be taken regularly to achieve the correct effects. In the case of Warfarin this involves having the correct blood clotting ratio which could not be achieved with irregular doses. I take one of the new anticoagulants (Apixaban) which require no constant testing, take them at 12 hourly intervals and so far one year on I've had no problems.

Better safe than sorry - stroke risk with AF is a risk too far.

I am loathe to take my Xarelto daily, fought it all the way. Though until my AF disappears, I will be on an anti-coagulant on a daily basis. The alternative is worse. ONce you get over the intial swallow, it enters into your daily habits and one doesn't think about it so dramatically anymore! Hope you find a solution that works for you!

Ask yourself this question. When would I take my anticoagulant 'pill in the pocket'? As vision blurs, face contorts and you begin to lose the ability to raise your arms? Do you really anything at that stage will stop the stroke?

No, there is no magic pill. Anticoagulation, like a dog, is for life when you have AF - assuming you are seeking a reasonably long life.......
