I took a couple of pills once and felt worse than the symptoms so stopped .It helps some people but not everybody.

Thanks Bob I seriously feel they make the symptoms worse - I cannot take on empty stomach as the next mouth full of food seems to trigger palpitations if taken after food occasional problem only. Also the lower leg swelling and hot flushes are miserable never mind the sleep difficulties!

As for the exhaustion that always appears 2 hours after taking! Seeing GP next week to discuss stopping.

I started on 240 with some side-effects but am fine on 160. For me it was nice to find something that actually worked without making me worse.

I had vagally triggered lone PAF and moved onto diltiazem and found it great. Much better than sotalol, bisoprolol etc.

Horses for courses!

I took Diltiazem about 2 years ago . I felt worse than ever and stopped them of my own accord.....would never take them again. Sandra

Diltiazem did not suit me at all. Made me droopy, tired, anxious and didn't stop the af.

Droopy tired anxious exactly! I also think they induce palpitations as they can tie in so clearly with when I've taken the dose - what are taking Jan

I take 240 mg bd added to Profanenone and I'm feeling much better. I felt terrible for the first few weeks but I wouldn't like to blame the Diltiazem for certain. I read the side effects and thought I had them all, but then I realised I had had headaches, dizziness, breathlessness etc before I started taking the pills! The only one I am sure is caused by Diltiazem is what the info describes as 'low mood' and I would describe as feeling very depressed in waves, so I have to remind myself it is not 'real'. I hope.
