You could try Gluten Free bread this was a start for me, now almost Gluten free in most things. If you can get to a dietician it would be good. Exercises with Tai Chi is not so strenuous as aerobic and plenty of DVDs out there. I altered my sodium intake then, eg: no salt but a pinch of seaweed sounds awful, but you don't notice it. It all depends on whether the thyroid count is up or down, you might like to research the Fodmap diet which I am now on but this is mainly to control the IBS and the episodes of SVT. Strangely enough am loosing weight on this without really trying.

Thank you ultramarine ,I should get the Tai Chi dvds you suggested. In the southern part of india where I live we eat rice and mostly gluten free.I do take salt and I do not know what seaweed is.Is it vegetarian as its name suggests.I have IBS too and could you please tell me what SVT is.

Sorry I haven't replied sooner omsakthi, but I am glad you can get hold of Tai Chi DVD's The thing is to do them though, which means for me I have to put on my cooking alarm for a half an hour to 1 hour it forces me to do them, around twice per week, and one class per week. Seaweed is as it suggests is from the sea, I am surrounded by the sea where I live in Australia, and it collects close to the sea bed in shallow water at times, but I can't just go and collect it as it needs to be properly treated before its eaten. Yes it is called a sea vegetable, the Chinese use it in their cooking a lot. The main thing is to use it only if your thyroid is low to normal range - just for maintenance and is not so restricting as salt which increases the risk of heart disease and stroke, yet it contains Iodine which we all need to a degree. I follow the ' fodmap diet ' now, to help me with IBS which you can research this online, and SVT is Super Ventricular Tachycardia (very fast heart rhythm)

Keep up the exercises and loads of water.

Two years back I gained around ten kilos within few months , then I was diagnosed with thyroid problem and I'm also on 100 mcg daily.

I was able to reduce reduce those extra kilos by three months diet , where I limited my carbohydrate intake , drinking more water , more fruited and veggies.

I'm going to try that again soon since I still need to loose more weight for better health

Regards

Hi

I am learning so many things from this group ,thank you.In india I was never told that Taking multivites and calcium within an hour or two of taking my thyroid medicine is not good.My endocrinologist is supposed to have trained in the USA and returned to India to set up practice .Is it alright to use the same medicine Thyronorm for years together or is it good to change medication every few years .If so I need to bring this up with my doctor.

thanks all.
