Can you say exactly the date when you had your ablation? Sandra

I had ablation 23 Aug 2013, (lasted in NSR for 6 days) and again on 3rd Feb 2014 and ditto also lasted 6 days till AF kicked back in. I would pretty much agree with your post re feeling worse, and don't even have the energy to consider working out. I used to love long walks, now it takes me all my time to walk to the corner shop. I seen a locum Doc at my surgery on friday, she had been reading my notes and when I mentioned the AF she tells me it looks as tho you are pretty much stuck with that, shit that really made me feel great.

Hope they can sort something out for you.

Hi packersfan, when you say worse do you mean your every day symptoms or your episode frequency or your palpitations? I think it may be wise to have a consult with your EP.

If you feel like you are passing out, could be low blood pressure, do you monitor it? If you do pass out please call immediate help.

I had ablation 27 Nov, good for 2weeks then had worse episode ever which lasted 39hours. Then good for a few weeks, another bad episode which landed me in coronary care for 30 hours. My EP had me back ASAP to do a 2nd which was performed 5 Mar. So far so good, slight episode yesterday of tachycardia after a walk. Yes I am breathless walking upstairs, yes it is worse than before ablation but attribute that to recovery period which will be 3 months & Bisoprolol which always makes me breathless and the main reason I had the ablation I the 1st place, to be free of it. I also suffer from low blood pressure so monitor that carefully. There are exercises you can do to help that such as squatting and clenching your muscles as if you were bearing down. Also take your time with postural transitions, don't get up too quickly from lying down to sitting, sitting to standing.

I had my ablation last year and was told that the atria tissue takes 3 to 6 months to repair itself so the AF will likely to come back or arrhythmia of some kind. It did but it lessened over a period of time. It's much improved than it was before. Ablations don't always cure AF but drastically manage the impact on the medium to long term.

The other thing to remember is that any inflammatory response such as acid reflux, a cold, sinusitis, chest infection etc can trigger AF because it does something to the atria tissue which is prone to causing the AF in the first instance.

So if you get any inflammatory type infections for up to a year after the ablation be sure to see the Dr and get them treated. Good luck

Hi packersfan, bit confused with your date
