Should my husband go to a&e, he has been light headed and sweating badly all day?

Hi. I am no expert but know it is really awful to be at home worrying especially late at night. So if it was me I would ring 111 and my gp as they should have an out of hours service. If none of this worked and I was really worried I would ring an ambulance or go to A&E. Maybe by now it has settled down. Is he on warfarin? Good luck to you both and let us know how you both are. I would say yes, better to have it checked out and nothing found. My husband has had a couple of occasions of light headed ness and been diagnosed with bradycardia. If he won't go to A&E, I would be insisting on a GP appointment ASAP.
Hi - In your situation I would ring the out of hours doctor or 111 number for advice right away. I had a similar experience with my other half. He would suddenly get chest pain, feel sick and sweaty. He kept ignoring it after being told by his doctor it was indigestion. During one episode of this when we were out I insisted we go straight to the doctors and they called an ambulance as it was his heart and he needed to have a stent fitted. I'm not saying your husband has the same, but it is so much better to be safe than sorry. Is you husband having chest pain? Of course it could just be a case of flu, but he really must get his symptoms checked by a doctor.

Husbands are hard to shift, aren't they? Mine is awful too, hates going anywhere, I had to nag him for months before he had his high blood pressure officially diagnosed. I'm hoping that by now you've done something - if it's not possible to talk to your GP or whatever the NHS Direct system is now, then A&E is a definite option if you're really worried.

If you ring my GP the first message on the answerphone/automated system says" if the patient has severe chest pain or the condition appears life threatening put the phone down and ring 999. " I do hope you did something similar. It could be a virus but none of us are qualified to judge. Over rule him! He might be grateful one day even if this is a false alarm.

Did your husband have any chest pain at the time?
No but he did say this morning that when he was carrying something he had a burning in his upper chest/throat area
Perhaps Kevin should have seen his doctor today. I think they can do a blood test, after a certain period of time that will show if the heart has been in distress.
Please, if it starts to happen again and he has an odd feeling in his chest/throat/arm/back take him straight to A&E, dial 111 or 999. I cannot stress to you enough how urgent his symptoms sound. It's not too late to take him to A+E now. Why don't you just ring the 111 number, or out of hours doctor now and talk to someone who can advise you. How is he feeling?
Should have said Kevin is in constant AF but yesterday was the first time he had 2 major episodes of sweat pouring off him and light headed with at one point a type of burning in his upper chest/throat area
These are the symptoms of a heart attack:

Shortness of breath. This symptom often accompanies chest discomfort. However, it can also occur before the chest discomfort.
Other signs. These may include breaking out in a cold sweat, nausea, or light-headedness. Some patients report a sense of impending doom
It sounds as though your husband ticked some of these boxes at least!
