Many thanks for relating Bob, just feel as though having to hold side of face in a perculiar position to easy any possible pain that could be lurking there.

You can get this after shingles . A trip to GP might result in the offer of some pain relief for "neuropathic pain". This might be amitriptyline, gabapentin or something similar ( pregabalin is another). Don't be put off if offered amitriptyline as the data sheet would say it's used for depression. It does help with nerve pain for some people. Would depend if it mixed with other meds you are on of course. Never come across it being after a stroke.

Gosh I really feel for you Migmog, my nan suffered with this late in her life and it was so awfully painful for her. I hope you get something that works for the pain, so debilitating. All the best.

Many thanks for your caring messages. Seen GP and prescribed Carbamazepine, so feeling a little dizzy with dosage. Tomorrow going to Cardiology to have a Holter for quite a few days. See if they are friendly with one another!!

Glad you've got some pain relief. It takes a few days to get into your system ( sadly the not so good effects start straight away but soon settle).

Hope all goes well

My mum had this and was able to get complete relief using a drug called tegratol but it took a while to build up the dose to the therapeutic level for her. Hope you find some help. Will be thinking of you.x
