If there are electrophysiologist's who use this site, will there ever be an ablation technique that will work 1st time for all AF sufferers?

I'm not an EP but I talk to a few and think the problem is that we are all so different in the way we experience AF. There is no one size fits all solution in general but lets never say never. You must also remember that ablation in its current form has only been around for less than 20 years and techniques are improving all the time. One must also understand that most EPs will always under ablate with a view to a top up later as you can't undo this stuff and really do not want to cause irreparable damage by going in with all guns blazing.

There are some promising noises coming out of North America about new methods but it will be a long time before we see the fruits of that work in UK. A question at HRC asked if it was worth waiting to have an ablation in case results improved but the EP concerned stated that in his opinion it was better to go now as the longer you had AF the more difficult to ablate and this would negate any possible improvements in methods.

Hope this helps
