You'll do great. I will be praying for you!!! I had mine on 3/25. Doing better everyday!!! Would do it again if needed. I had no pain at all. But take it easy, even I you feel great!!!

Good luck and prayers r with you.

Good luck faystelle. also starting to feel nervous ,having mine on Monday. Afib how quickly did you start to feel better ? I know it takes about 3 months before you're told if it's successful but do you start to feel better immediately or is it a case of very slow improvement. I shall have to learn patience if its a case of slow recovery.

Fay,

Happy to hear you are set and ready to go. Also on a side note... I am waiting to hear from the testing facility about the 3rd round of trials for the IBS drug from Furiex. It should be starting here in the next 2 or 3 months.

Fi,

You go into the hospital tomorrow night don't you? Will be praying for your success and quick recovery and that they get it all in one shot. Try to get some sleep tomorrow night because you probably won't after the procedure. Hospitals aren't really known for getting sleep.

Both Fay and Fi, Try to calm your nerves down. I know it is natural to be afraid before a procedure and I was also. But I can still hear my own laughter after it was done. Just go to sleep and when you wake it's over. I really can't stress enough how little pain there was involved. The only real discomfort was (besides my back hurting) putting in the IV (I've always hated that).

know what you mean, about the IV. last time had one put in they hit edge of tendon. Before I could complain , I was asleep, it was agony when woke up, worse then the knee that was operated on.

Hi All, Yes as a threetimer I can say it is no problem BUT do take it easy afterwards. You might think great I'm cured, but there will most likely be a few blips along the way as it does take three months for the scar tissue to form blocking the rogue impulses. The more you take it easy in the first days the better.> I was told do nothing for the first week and not much more for the second. I used the bruising in my groin as a guide thinking when that had faded away then things had started to heal properly inside.

As Tim says the worst bit is having to lay flat for four hours or so afterwards. I don't do relax very well.!

Hello Fay,

You're bound to be nervous but just think of the relief when it is all over. Are you having sedation or General anaesthesia ? I had my 3rd ablation in 3 and a half years 5 weeks ago . My 1st one at The Heart Hospital in London was done under sedation , as was my 2nd one in Brighton. My recent one , also in Brighton, was done under GA -- I could have had sedation but a GA makes it a bit easier for the EP as patient is completely still! I would have it again either way though, there are pros & cons for each .I had complete confidence in my EP ( the same one on all 3 occasions ) & in fact all the team. Whereabouts are you having yours done?

All the very best to you for June 20 !

Hi Fay - I see you're having it done in Plymouth. I'm under the care of Plymouth as well and waiting to see GH to discuss my first ablation. Will be interested to hear how you get on. Both EP's in Plymouth are top notch so you'll be well looked after. I thought the procedure was done under sedation but see you're having a GA. Did you opt for that? Here's wishing you loads of luck. Aren't we lucky to have this forum - I can't tell you how much it's turned my life around for the better. :0)
