How is it decided whether to give Docetaxel or Jevatna as chemo ?

Between Docetaxel ( Taxotere ) and Jevatna ( Cabizataxel ) , is one preferred over the other.

Would one be less toxic and safer than the other - especially for someone like me who is 82 years old.

Docetaxel is given first. Jevtana is approved for second chemo. This randomized trial found that docetaxel was better at preventing pain progression. The potential side effects are different.

"Rates of grade 3 or 4 treatment-emergent adverse events were 41.2%, 60.1%, and 46.0% for C20, C25, and D75, respectively. Febrile neutropenia, diarrhea, and hematuria were more frequent with C25; peripheral neuropathy, peripheral edema, alopecia, and nail disorders were more frequent with D75."

C20=Cabazitaxel 20 mg/m2

C25=Cabazitaxel 25 mg/m2 (the standard dose of Jevtana)

D75=Docetaxel 75 mg/m2 (the standard dose of Taxotere)
