Hi. Looking for some treatment options for my father. Did anyone hear about Israeli Alpha DaRT treatment? They are conducting some trials now. Not for prostate cancer yet. But with very promising results

Alpha DaRT
Nal wrote about it a while back. Maybe he has an update if he gets this.
Nal, thanks a lot. We are from Russia, but Jewish. So for us it is not a problem to go there. Dad started his journey in June with some mets in spine, hips and skull. But not so many. Do you think they can do the procedure in 2020? What I’ve read they are focusing only on skin cancer now
It is a kind of brachytherapy - with Ra 224 (alpha particles) instead of I131 (X rays). It may be useful in those situations where brachytherapy is useful.
from MSK description:
"The DaRT device is a form of “brachytherapy” (radiation sources applied directly to tumor tissue) and has seeds that give off radiation inside the tumor. Like other types of brachytherapy, DaRT delivers radiation directly to the tumor. But because it uses a type of radiation called “alpha-emitting radionucleotides,” researchers believe it may be more effective than standard brachytherapy."
Perhaps can be used for metastasis directed treatment (in addition to the primary tumor). Their website:
I believe Memorial Sloan Kettering is doing clinical trials with Alpha Dart
Any idea if this form of radiation also has an abscopal effect on other untreated tumours?
