Anyone had the AR-V7 testing to see if Zitiga or Xtandi were beneficial to the type of hormone resistant prostate cancer you may have. Look up Ar-V7 . To lengthy & complicated for explanation here. Asking our oncologist at vanderbilt Ingram cancer center about this testing.

AR-V7 testing
My oncologist started me on Zytiga without the AR-V7 test. The samples left over from my prostatectomy were too old to reveal any mutations that may have occurred in the last 12 years, and my lung tumors apparently were too small to make a good target for a biopsy.
I had the AR-V7 test in February 2016, got a negative result and started Xtandi in March. My PSA went down for three months from 25 to 6, was stable for three months around 7, and from September to January has doubled every two months to its current 20. However, my number of bone mets is the same as March, so I am continuing with the Xtandi.
I just read your reply. I do not know how to find the response. Please read my bio & latest post about my condition.( writing for my husband) need advice
Wrote for advice "what now" PSA rising 68.9 April 14. Finished radium 223 (oxfigo) March 28. Been off zitiga 1 month. Only taking Lupron ( Eligard & zometa) very weak & bad. Just getting over about 5 or 6th urinary infection since RP in May 2012. Bone & CT scheduled may 17th. Does not seem he is getting all right testing or direction. Many bone mets & of course castrate resistant. No T testing I know of. No . One has mentioned testosterone. What do we need to ask for. Seems like at 82 & lived 5 years with stage 4 Gleason 9 our oncologist have thrown up their arms. He is growing weaker ( spend a lot of time in bed) big change in last 3 months. ADVICE - please
Nal, That is so great to know about chemo possibly tyrning off ARV7 , maybe I will get another response to zytiga and or xtandi after Chemo, Thanks for your always useful information, and good advice!
Thanks Nal, Retrying xtandi after chemo has been my plan all along.
After all my time on Lupron or Ztytiga , and xtandi which wipes out T better than Lupron,my t stays below 20 without zytiga/Lupron, so have not done it in 4 years or more, we find it unlikely it will ever come back.
