Does anyone else practically hurl when brushing your teeth. It is very unpleasant. Any ideas on how to deal with this?

This might not be your issue, but I could never tolerate the grittiness of most toothpaste. Until Aim toothpaste was created, I brushed my teeth with just water. Now I use toothpastes that are total gels. Crest Cool Mint Gel (exact name … anything else has grit) or Aim toothpaste are the only total gels I know of; no grit!
Please reply and let us know what is your exact issue. Some one is surely in the same boat as you.
What is it that makes the experience unpleasant for you? The toothbrush? The toothpaste? The motion?
Use a toothbrush which is soft enough for your needs. Tooth and gum sensitivity is an issue for many people.
Try brushing in different ways. Many people brush vigorously in long front to back strokes. That can be harsh on the gums, and some people might trigger their gag reflex that way. Others use an up and down motion. I had a dentist who taught me to brush in small circles, which has been the most effective and least bothersome method of brushing for me.
Make sure to only use a little bit of toothpaste. The marketing pictures show a huge amount of toothpaste, to showcase the product. As a parent, who brushed my kids' teeth until they were big enough to brush their own, I read the label on the toothpaste carefully. For young children, it said to use "about a pea sized amount". As an adult, I use less that twice that.
My biggest bane is the toothpaste flavors. Wintergreen tastes like Pepto-Bismol (YUCK) and most other mints are too strong. What I use right now is Smart Mouth mild mint. Good stuff.
