Suppliment medication with other forms to improve focus and behavioral problems such as chiropractic adjustments
Hi! We do not have our son on meds, but he has been seeing a Chiro for over a year now. He is definitely calmer, and his resting posture is much improved. Highly recommend this!
Hello BaylorFan I'm an evidence based chiropractor and I have adhd. I would advise against sending your child to a chiropractor with the hopes of them curing or treating your childs adhd.
Chiropractors who claim to treat adhd are often predatory in nature. They claim that "subluxations" are present in children with adhd and that the "subluxation" causes issues with the nervus system and its regulation which causes some of the adhd symptoms. There is no scientific basis for this. A chiropractic subluxation does not exist. It is a term that is not accepted in the scientific community because it has no agreed upon definition nor a reproducible way to diagnosis it. (don't confuse this with the medical term subluxation those actually do exist but they arnt the same thing as a chiropractic subluxation)
There is no evidence to even remotely suggest that spinal manipulation is an effective treatment for adhd.
However there is very clear evidence that indicates that appropriate exercise and a healthy diet can help modulate some symptoms. Making the appropriate lifestyle changes can help with adhd, it is by no means a cure and framing it as a treatment for adhd is misleading.
There are evidence based chiropractors that can guide you with changes in lifestyle, but they are not going to claim to treat adhd. Alternatively you and your child could work together to try and make those lifestyle changes on your own.
