I had my operation Three weeks ago and have been on a fluid diet The first week I was fine Now I find myself getting diarrhoea, Has anybody else had this?

It might be that your digestive system has not been used to dealing with food at such a rate for a long while and is reacting to new sensations, or to something that you ate that has caused a reaction, or perhaps the natural gut bacteria are being disturbed. You certainly do not want to be constipated which would be a risk with taking anti-diarrhoea medication; sometimes the system can yo-yo between diarrhoea and constipation if you try and counteract either too soon. I would ring the consultant's office where you had the surgery and ask for advice.

Just a further couple of thoughts after discussing with a colleague... It might feasibly be a drug / medication reaction? And important to send a stool culture to rule out an infection (including clostridia). But it should otherwise settle as your diet becomes normal.
