PMR Review with GP

Not entirely thyroid related but you are experts on testing.
I've used medichecks over the past 4 years and have no reason to doubt their accuracy, but my eldest son has been diagnosed as depressed and the usual anti-depressants have been thrown his way without any further investigations. I'm not anti anti-depressants but I'm very much pro investigation, particualarly

Deiodinase 2 (DIO2) DNA blood test
Apologies if this is already been discussed at length. I'm just wondering if anyone on here has had this test? If so, where? Was it useful in your diagnosis? There only seems to be one place in the UK that does it. I'm a little dubious as it's only £15 according to their website!!

Day 5 of stims
Hi,I'm on day 5 of stims for my first IVF cycle (and started ganirelix today as well). Anybody else at a similar stage? I have my first monitoring scan and blood test tomorrow and am excited but nervous. It feels as though the novelty of daily injections has already worn off (not helped by the fact that

Thrombocytopenia?
I've had a few
blood
tests
recently that measure platelet counts. They're within reference range but I think they qualify as 'lowish'. Results are: 199 [140-400]; 193 [150-400]. Apparently, if counterintuitively, it is possible to have both APS (clotting) and thrombocytopenia (bleeding).

Prednisone query
HI all Just need a bit of info please. Saw GP on Thursday, who I think is a little in the dark about PMR, he said he has never seen a case before, but reads all the guidance. I started at 15mg and great results. After 3 weeks went to 12.5mg, also comfortable, then on hi guidance, went to 10mg after

High doses of B12
Can one overdose on B12? Can it be given in mega doses like B1? Is it advisable for PWP to take extra high doses of B12? My WWP recently had a blood test and her B12 levels were only slightly higher by about 10% of the recommended levels.

Soprobec 200 inhaler and systemic steroid side effects/withdrawal, help??!
Being as ALL the
blood
tests
came back negative, and the usual culprits of things like excessive thirst have been ruled out. This leaves me thinking the Soprobec 200 inhaler might be to blame. Has anyone else experienced such things on higher doses of ICS?

Vitamin and mineral supplements? My latest results
All
blood
tests
were done no later than 9.30am, no levo for 24 hours before. I've worked really hard this year on my diet, but my Free T3 has barely shifted. I eat loads of veg, nuts and seeds, meat, no gluten (finally committed to it), no dairy (many years).

Folate supplements with B12 injections
I am currently receiving loading doses (3 so far). I was low on B12 at 170 and low on folate (about 2) as well as macrocytic but not anaemic. Incidentally, I have low WBC but they are not sure if this is due to a bad infection a couple of months ago.I have been prescribed folate supplements but I didn't

Please tell me why……
my doc wanted a BMB to confirm PV. Right afterwards I read there’s a blood test to confirm Jak2. So why would a dr. Advocate for the biopsy over the blood test?

Prednisolone and surgery
Hi everyone, I've been reading all the recent posts about problems reducing prednisolone with interest. When I was diagnosed in September 2023 (non cranial GCA) I naively expected my steroid reducing timetable, given to me on discharge, would be exactly as it was on the sheet. I'm now down to 8mg per

Gaurdant blood test
My test revealed a mutation called Andorogen receptor Amplification. This explains how it went from my L2 to my rib, femurs, and lower back. My doctor did not say why or how this information will benefit my treatment, so I really don't get it. Just waiting g for approval to start PLUVITCO. Any

Hi, Midori here for advice for my son who may have Type 2.
After two visits within a week, we were told it was micro aneurisms in the eye and this reinforced my push for a GP appointment for
blood
tests
for
blood
sugars. Still Can't get an appointment! Not for Love, Money or the Old Medic's Network (Retired Nurse!).

8 months post Nstemi and quadruple CABG
it’s not all been a linear progress but it has been pretty darn good. Back ggedt issue I’ve had is with my statins. I thought it was the Bisoprolol (1.25mg ) and ramipril (half a 1.25mg tablet) that was making me dizzy , fatigued and zombie like every afternoon to early evening. Plus I had cognitive

Might be diagnosed with Antiphospholipid Syndrome (APS)
Hi I previously in January 2023 was diagnosed with PE, the past year has been difficult and long and knowing I was on blood thinners adoxaban forever as the heamotogist advised originally in January 23 was killing me, as I have heard that blood thinners are rat poison and can get internal bleeding.

Parathyroid test is high
I've recently had a blood test (yearly bloods) to check my thyroid levels as I have an under active thyroid. My doctor also did my Parathyroid which has shown up as high and he's referred me to an endocrinologist. Does anyone know what this means?
