What is my status
Please could someone clarify this for me as had an overactive thyroid which was knocked out with RAI. I am Thyroxine which, thank goodness, has stabilised me so that I am Euthyridic (sp) however there are the occasional flareups of eye problems associated with Throid Eye Disease. What I am really confused

Can Sea Moss Gel affect your thyroid blood test
The only change I have made is to add Sea Moss Gel to my morning drink , could this have affected my thyroid as Sea Moss Gel contains 92 minerals including
iodine
.

Iodine and the thyroid
Is this to be avoided due to its
iodine
content? Or is it good for hypothyroidism? I have added this to my diet over the last 6 months. Can this affect the thyroid e.g going overactive or under active? Also, what is thyroxine composed of in the drug we take? Not the fillers etc.

Remifentanil / Fentanyl allergies in Lupus??? Or multiple allergies in Lupus??
I also had similar reactions to other drugs like dexamethasone and
iodine
for contrast dye infusions. These two were all post pregnancy. Has any one had reaction to drugs who are lupus or SLE, be great to compare notes . Or multiple drug allergies.

Selenium Transport Impairment - A Novel Form of Hypothyroidism
It presents with low urine
iodine
. I believe impaired deiodinase (D2) presents a special problem because it regulates local T3 levels near the cell nucleus, T3 saturation at receptors.

I'm reluctant to go on pharma drugs, as I prefer to go down the natural route using
iodine
and supplements. Has anyone else on here done that? I'm currently reading 'The
Iodine
Crisis' by Lynne Farrow.

Is it necessary to start treatment with L-thyroxin 50 μg ?
I was referred to an endocrinologist who perscribed L-Thyroxin with
Iodine
50 μg. After two weeks my bloods showed that TPO had increased again to 118 but TSH had decreased to 1.51. I then found out at a rountine scan that my baby had stopped growing at 6 weeks, a missed miscarriage.

Bizarre Thyroid Quote from 1941
And man’s appearance may be consequently so changed that instead of being the good looking creature he thinks he now is, he will have evolved into a pop-eyed, fat-headed, chinless creature, the space between his chin and his collar button having been taken over by his constantly expanding

A little explanation please
Hi there I've been a lurker for a while after having radioactive
iodine
treatment for an overactive thyroid and because I don't fully understand all that is going on lol. I had my treatment in October and after loads of follow ups, have now been started on Levothyroxine 50mcg.

parathyroid
Today tcpace raised a good point about the parathyroid and if surgeons aim to preserve them. This is something I’ve wondered about with relation to RAI, as I can’t imagine anything in its wake would survive. Any thoughts/knowledge?

One thing I have not tested for is
iodine
deficiency. I keep reading that in the west it is very rare for that to be an issue for goitre and if you have hashimoto's , taking it could be dangerous? Is this true? They do not test on the NHS so would need do it it myself.

From darkness into light and almost all the way back again
Due to persistent AF and by now, a diagnosis of Graves, I was lined up for either a Thyroidectomy or Radio
Iodine
and sent to the local Endocrinologist. The one request I had was: “please don’t make me fat again”.
