I have been on mirtazapine for nearly 2 years. Went on them for ongoing surgeries on my nose that went wrong and left me with severe anxiety! Started on 15gms then went up to 30gms… HATE this drug as it makes me feel like I’m in severe brain fog all the time. I’m so nervous and anxiety about everything now and not myself at all! Wish I’d never gone on them! It has helped with sleep and a bad back that I’ve got, although I feel like it’s not natural sleep and have vivid dreams. Went to docs recently to try and come down to 15grms see if it helps. Been taking alternate nights on 30 and 15 for 3 wks…. As doctor advised. Feel awful and giddy and dizzy all the time since doing this and worse! Feel like I’m having bad withdrawal doing this! Had anyone had experiences bout coming down on this drug and how to do it?? Thanks in anticipation.

I've never been on this drug but I have been off and on many others. Tapering down can be very difficult, I understand how you are feeling.
Have you discussed this with the Dr? Maybe there is a different approach you can take?
I hope you feel better soon

Psychiatric withdrawal is very common and alternating the dose is the worst thing you can do. Check out surviving antidepressants dot org, they will give you good advice
I personally don't really have problems tapering down from meds. Even notorious ones. I've been on Mirt in the past, but quite due to the weight gain. I'd get a knife or scalpel blade and cut the tablet into 4 or 6 if you can manage it. Take 3 quarters for a week or so, then 2, then 1. Only drop down again if you've feeling OK.
