anyone have any experience with mirtaz? Not looking for horror stories but just curious if anyone ever went from 15 -30 mg and how that adjustment went? Did it change much? Last night was my first night at 30 and I have to say that I feel exactly the same! My stress levels are pretty high right now so it’s hard to gauge.. also don’t know if it’ll take a while.
when I first started it I felt a difference immediately with my sleep issues(always get woken up way before my alarm).
anyway hope everyone is doing great and happy Friday!

I take mirtazapine 15mg and when I first started taking it I would fall asleep straight away but 7 months later and I don't fall asleep after taking but I do sleep through the night with it feeling like my mind is working 100 miles an hour keeping me awake! I am trying to get put on another medication but I don't like the weight gain side effect 💔. I hope they can help with that if not I don't know what I'm gona do. What dose you on??
I was wondering about that! A ton of info on it being less sedating at higher doses but nothing on hunger. I need to up mine to 15 mg and found after a month on 7.5 mg the hunger has subsided but I walked my butt off to make sure I didn’t gain.
I take 30mg of Mirtazapine as well as 25mg of Promethazine Hydrochloride & these are to aid in my sleeping.
U say U've only recently started taking a higher dose, well give it between 2 to 4 weeks to work into ur system for U to get the best out of.
Now I'm a bit confused as to why U were given them for stress & U did mention sleep too, so what was the original reason U were given Mirtazapine ? I only ask as I was given them for sleep only as my insomnia was killing me & I was given Promethazine Hydrochloride first then they added Mirtazapine at 30mg level.
I can say it works as I'm getting between 3 to 4 hours a night now & I'm pleased they're working, how much sleep were U getting before dose was increased ?
Hi, yeah I also have been struggling with anxiety and depression. I’m also taking Lexapro and busiprone. However, most of it all started in the mornings.
I’d maybe sleep 5-6 hrs before I’d awaken burning up and super anxious. The mirtaz has definitely helped with that. Hopefully 30mg helps even more!
I take 15mg but struggling with anxiety please let me know if you up the mitazpine and it helps iam afraid to go on higher dose, don't want be a zombie .I have family come back to live with me after 10 years iam struggling thanks for your post x
I am increasing from 15mg to 30mg tonight. I hope it helps me. Life seems to be falling apart around me lately because of my depression and anxiety. I'm glad to hear it's helped you!
Hi, I took Mirtazapine 45 mg for 2 years. I put on a lot of weight but I did sleep well. I have changed to Venlafaxine twice a day as didn’t like the side effects of Mirtazapine.
Duloxetine was a good one for me but stopped working after 8 years. I have been on lots of different antidepressants over nearly 30 years. All started when I was 50 and the menopause was misdiagnosed as depression. Good luck x
I have worked my way up to 45 mg over many years. Each change took a few weeks to kick in, so I wouldn't worry just yet. My husband just increased his dose from 15 to 30 and it is definitely taking a bit to kick in. Personally, I'd give it some time.
Hi I started on 7.5 then up to 15 then 30mg & latterly I was on the maximum dose of 45mg…….however, I felt that they had lost their effectiveness & I had a consultation with a private GP who reduced my Mirt back down to 30mg to be taken in the morning & also started me on Amitriptyline 25mg to be taken an hour or so before bed……I am now into my 3rd week & I feel a definite improvement, although he did say to give it 4-6 weeks to feel the full benefit.
