Understanding intrinsic factor
Just wondering....my intrinsic factor was 2 last year. The test was done immediately after my injection, one the week before and loading doses 3 months previously. Would I have had a different outcome if the test had been done before all treatment ???

Very high homocysteine shown on private blood test denied by GP! Scared but vindicated 😤
So ...after many years of symptoms, a massive decline after general anaesthetic 9 weeks ago,a family history of PA, being diagnosed with numerous things....ME, tri geminal neuralgia, functional neurological disorder, anxiety, depression, heart damaged by radiotherapy in the past etc etc..... FINALLY

Reputable labs for B12 testing?
Can anyone recommend any labs for private B12, folate, ferritin, intrinsic factor, etc testing? My daughter has all the symptoms of B12 deficiency. Has been tested for thyroid function which is apparently normal, as are all her other bloods. Testing for B12 has not been carried out on the NHS. Have

Diagnosing PA
Can an enlightened soul out there tell me why doctors are only interested in using a positive antibody test for intrinsic factor to diagnose PA, when its false negative rate is something like 40-60%? Whereas a positive antibody test for parietal cell antibodies is around 80% accurate?

Newly diagnosed B12 deficiency
Hi everyone, I'm new here and have received a diagnosis of B12 deficiency this week. Thankfully I had already done plenty of research before I was officially diagnosed so I knew that I may have a battle with the GP on my hands before going in there. I received a result of 142 for B12, she mentioned

Nascobal Nasal Spray-Any users?
Hi, I have neuropathy and other symptoms including hair loss which has gotten better since I've had the injections. My neurologist says I'm B12 deficient, I have had 10 weekly injections of 1000mcg each. I've seen a hematologist, my intrinsic factor is fine. All vitamins have been checked etc.and thyroid

Help with self medication
I have posted previously and have persuaded my husband, who has been unwell for several years, to start self medicating, but I feel so confused with how to go about it. He has just gone gluten free but I feel he also needs to supplement with vitamins. His test results (non fasting) were as follows: Serum

Doctors cannot make up their mind!
Hi, I'm 21 and have neuropathy and cannot tolerate the cold and am tired. ALL tests that are possible for thyroid have been run and are good, antibioties are also negative. My neuro said they think it's my B12 215 (180-900) range. I did have 10 weeks of once weekly injections of 1000mcg cyanocobalamin-that

Blood tests normal??
Had my bloods taken this week, the doctor just phoned me to say bloods were all normal, but the intrinsic factor hadn't come back yet. I have been ill for 6years, started with ringing in my ears, then chronic migraine then chronic fatigue, which has slowly got worse over the 6 years, I found an article

Intrinsic factor antibodies
So my Intrinsic Factor Antibodies test has come back as a 1. I believe this is normal or "negative". So no enlarged RBC, B12 at 402 in January and now this. Feeling just as bad...terrible neuropathy and neuralgia today. I just know that this will be one more weapon the GP will add to his belief that

Hi there guys, I had a B12 serum test about a month or more ago and the results were: 186 pmol/L out of a range of 140.00 - 724.00 However I've just had the results of an active B12 test, which are: 93 pmol/L out of a range of 25.1 - 165 I'm waiting on MMA and intrinsic factor results but from the results

Dr's visit as expected yesterday- he "doesn't believe" evidence I printed off for him :(
Well yesterdays visit to my GP was a farce as predicted, and once again, despite taking my printed sheets ( from library here and links sent via forum) I came away in tears. I took my partner with me as back up and another pair of ears and we both fared the same. Once again the Dr said "there is no indication

Pregnancy advice
I am currently 25weeks pregnant after a couple of years of trying. I was diagnosed with PA about 10 years ago via part 1 and 2 of the schilling test. blood test negative for RA factor. Could I still have RA nonetheless?
Hi I've been experiencing joint stiffness and neuropathy in hands, arms, legs, and feet since November '16. I had a blood test last week and it came back negative for Rheumatoid Factor. I also had the Anti-CCP test and that came back clear. Could I still have RA though? And is neuropathy a symptom
