As there is a growing concern about what chemicals are in our foods, but what about toiletries? Which product/s concern you the most?

Oh dear I went down the list and ended up clicking them all. It really concerns me about chemicals. I use a natural organic moisturiser which I love and is great for me so I don’t need to wear make up. Saves a few pounds. Also we use kingfisher toothpaste and a salt deodorant the only natural one I’ve found to work. The only thing I struggle with is shampoo and conditioner as it leaves my hair feeling horrible. Also what concerns me are the chemicals in paint and building materials☹️ I went through a stage of making my own bath and shower gel with liquid Castile soap and essential oils. Might give that another go. Great poll Debs, well done. 👍

It is a growing concern - I also ticked most options. When I use Deodorants I spray it on my clothes and not directly on my skin.

Have you tried the natural soap from funky soap - its used as a shampoo and conditioner - it worked for quite a few people but not for me sadly - my hair would not have moved in a gale force wind : >.

I forgot to mention about washing powders and softeners.

Thats a good idea about making soap - Is it quick to make

Best wishes

Debs

Haha I know what you mean!

I bought the Castile liquid soap on line and just dropped in a few essential oils so it was pretty quick. As far as washing detergent, we bought an eco ball and use that. It lasts a year and doesn’t cost much. I bought that on line as well. Before that we used Ecover 🙂

Thank you Ali, I will give that a go

Kingfisher toothpaste, not heard of that one, I'll look for it.

I see you mention an eco ball for washing clothes, I've often doubted if it works🤔.

Building materials and paint worries me as well.

You amaze me on what you do.

I wanted to tick all of the above. I only buy organic products for my home and body.Yes they are more expensive but i dont want to be using toxic ingredients. We dont fully know what the impact of the cocktail and accumulation of these chemicals in everyday products is doing to us and our environment .

A very thought provoking poll& post. first 2 replies interesting & informative. The only make I use occasionaly is eye brow pencil and lipstick. I’ve recently started using Calendula cream on my dry skin by Nelsons which I’m pleased with. But have to admit I didn’t check the ingredients first, just went by the brand name. Perhaps a trip to the independent health food store would be a good idea for me. Usually use the simple brand for hair wash but have been thinking about looking around and see what else is available.

I think you also have to have a close look at some of the health shop products - I was shocked to find that the H&B Milk thistle contained nail polish remover : <

In what form? I find it hard to believe there would be something as nasty as a solvent in something you take by mouth...

Ive just looked at the H&b website for milk thistle - they use acetone as a solvent to extract the active ingredient is this what you are referring to? but this is not the same thing as containing nail polish remover! BTW the body produces acetone itself

No it wasnt what I was referring to, this was over a year ago, I read in an article, so hopefully since then it's been changed. It doesn't matter where you buy from you always should check ingredients these days. The documentary on chemists natural products proved there wasn't anything natural about it, like lots of us don't really no what we are eating, ie horse meat

in reply toKitten-whiskers

What that's disgusting, H&B should be forced to stop selling it!

Hopefully they have changed what goes in the Milk Thistle these days - thats why its so important to check what goes in it

You've actually taught me something here Debs, I would have never of thought they would have done that with vitamins.

Hi Debs, this is a great poll and one of my biggest concerns is not only the chemicals in toiletries but I am even more concerned about the chemicals in some fake produce as some people have suffered badly with fake tooth whitening chemicals...😁

I also agree with Ali as I am very sensitive to lots of chemicals in every day items. 🎃

Thank you Jerry, I quite agree, there is so much that is a worry now. Pollution is another one.

I am glad im not the only one sensitive to lots of chemicals : < - some people think your just making it up

Mouthwash kills all known germs. Is that supportive of a healthy gut biome where it is killing good as well as bad bacteria. Also both the wash and the paste risk going down the throat. What goes down my throat takes top priority.

I'd agree with that, I use flouride free these days

Oh my, I've ticked nearly every one. I use organic natural deodorant I've also used a crystal one which is excellent. I have been thinking lately about making my own cleaning products i.e. shampoos etc.

Toothpaste worries me as well.

It is a big concern these days. Have you tried the fluoride free tooth pastes? So cool if you make your own x

in reply toKitten-whiskers

No I haven't, I'll look for that. So called experts are telling us what's best for us and they are leading us up the garden path!

Also meant to say a brilliant poll Debs.

So very true - its been a real eye opener for me, thats for sure.

Thank you, I just seem to concern myself with everything I come in contact with, as you just don't know these days, profit seems to come first
