I have tinnitus and drink alcohol once or twice a week. If I feel a little hungover my tinnitus does seem to go up a notch or two the day after but in longer term alcohol has no effect. Only thing I would say is don’t drink in a noisy pub, especially one with live music or disco playing. This will increase your tinnitus and may cause further damage in longer term. Play safe and I’m sure you’ll be ok.

I have just started introducing the odd drink here and there after 6 months with T. It has been fine. Not going crazy because Im still fresh on the emotional stage and wouldmy want to set my self back because I have hangover blues x

In moderation is always best and I always go out to drink alcohol as I find being among company of others a distraction to my T. Most weeks I only go out once and try to limit myself to how many beers I have. This way I am in some control of stopping hangovers which temporarily seem to increase my T. Good luck in continuing as you are doing as we all need distractions that help in any way to ease our T.

You can do anything with tinnitus. You'll soon learn what provokes your T and what doesn't.

I went teetotal for most of 2017 when I was going the initial 'early stage' horrors of tinnitus, as any booze sent my T crackers. It made life pretty miserable though, as I still had tinnitus and I couldn't have a drink to soothe my tortured soul.

I'm back on the sauce now, but nowhere near the amount I used to drink - probably for the best really.

Drinking alcohol increases blood flow to the inner ear, which can cause tinnitus – a ringing, buzzing or swooshing sound in the ears. This condition can resolve itself in a few hours, but can still be quite annoying while it is present. Excessive drinking on a regular basis can lead to permanent tinnitus.19 Sep 2019 Anay boday believe this

Absolutely - but I think they're talking about the red-nosed meths drinkers under the viaduct, than your average person having a few pints.

I drink every night and it doesn't bother my T I stopped drinking for 3 months to see if it would help my T but it didn't so I have a drink now every night

I have stopped drinking since I first got T 3 years ago. I find that drinking causes me wake in the night and then {even with my sleep phones} I have to get up and read etc. Without alcohol I come round but soon get back to sleep without having to get out of bed!

People accept that I don't drink now .... which makes it easy.
