Different pitches drown each other out?

I have several different pitches of tinnitus but because one is louder than the other I tend to only hear the loud one. Recently when I’m outside I’ve noticed a very high pitched, alien sound, kind of like a fluorescent lamp. I also hear it when watching tv or being very quiet. I don’t hear it when I close my ears, I only hear the lower, louder pitch. Could it be reactive tinnitus or do the sounds drown each other out depending on the environment?

Many thanks for any response
