Have you tried codeine phosphate - I’ve had IBS and colitis for over 40+ years and by taking it following several BM’s, it has allowed me to go about a ‘fairly’ normal life, including a certain amount of long haul travel. It’s take patience and trial and error but it can work. I’m not alone in having found this to be a saviour. Nothing to lose; doctors unless they have it, have no idea of the misery and disruption IBS can cause. It’s not perfect but it’s given me a life worth living.

Hi. I've had colitis for 14 years now but I've just started IBS symptoms too. I can't work as I'm housebound!! I'm on all sorts of meds for the colitis. Are you??

On a day to day basis I only take codeine phos as and when I need it. I have in the past year taken Imodium and codeine phos together when taking a long flight but not normally.
