I don't have direct experience of supporting a child returning to school but do have experience of returning to work myself following ABI and thus lots of the issues specific to ABI. There are, as you may be finding out, many of these. I'd be more than happy to share.

My son did not return to his previous school, as he needed more support than they were able to provide. He went to an independent special school for disabled children, which was fantastic..small classes and all the therapies required available i.e. hydrotherapy, physio, speech etc.

We made this decision after evaluating what would be available at mainstream schools and talking to some parents who had children with disablities. We felt that the school we picked had experience of ABI, which is something that was lacking in the mainstream option.

It proved to be the best option for us, although I am told that mainstream inclusion is better now than it was 15 years ago when my son had his accident.
