Yes is the answer - but it takes a lot of determination from the patient - and requires the support of professionals - counsellors, dieticians etc - so it you want to recover on the outside - you'll need to get your GP to refer you for some out patient help - and from experience its hard to get this sorted out and takes quite a time - 6 months or more from my experience. You could also contact ABC who support people and are really helpful with advice.
Yes it is. Had eating disorders and over exercised for most my life. Been in recovery for few years now. And I wouldn't ever go back to that life. I am a person that tends to believe that believing in yourself is the best way forward. To each their own of course. One is going to have to eventually do all the hard work themselves anyways. Just don't give up.
Yes, it’s 100% possible I recovered alone and away from all clinical settings, I won’t lie and say it’s easy as it takes a lot of determination but the satisfaction that comes from being better is the best feeling in the world. If you have a supportive family or close friends who you can confide in then it makes it much easier, if you don’t have that support network then I’d recommend seeing a therapist to help when things get tough, expressing your emotions is a key part of recovery & everyone needs someone to vent their frustrations to.
I never thought recovery would be possible but if you fight those feelings and the ed voice, you can be free again & enjoy all that life has to offer. Eating properly really does clear the mind fog & makes you feel so much better. x
