Val W Stone, from Wexford, in Ireland
My experience has been a really positive one and I would be more than happy to discuss my case with anyone about to undergo an
Oesophagectomy
or anyone who feels nervous and worried about the problem. My advice would be to keep positive, think positively and act positively also.

Stomach pain after esophagectomy
My husband had an esophagectomy (robotically) 14 years ago. Since then he periodically experiences incapacitating pain in his navel. Only morphine or dilaudid relieves the pain. No doctor or hospital has ever been able to determine the cause of the pain. Has anyone else ever experienced this?

Help please with sensation of something stuck in my throat and choking post oesophagectomy!!
HI I am 7 weeks post op. I am a previously fit and healthy 53 year old woman diagnosed as T3N1M0 in February after all my obvious symptoms completely failed to alert both 2 NHS GP's and one rather useless gastroenterologist for 6 months. I have my fair share of issues post operatively : dumping, pneumonia

Chewing gum is a great help to me for reflux
I am a little more than a year post-op (Ivor-Lewis
oesophagectomy
/partial gastrectomy). Of course, I had had reflux for years but the symptoms were quelled by PPI's until after the operation.

Bowel / toilet problems
It is not specifically for people who have had an
oesophagectomy
/ gastrectomy, but some aspects of it might be relevant to some problems you might face.

Possible internal scarring pain
Hi, I had a partial
oesophagectomy
and partial gastrectomy just over 2 years ago. Over the last 3 weeks I have developed a pain where the op took place that only occurs when I stand up i.e. when my insides stretch. Anyone else experienced this?

Can't stomach as much. Get it?!!
I am 2 years post op (full gastrectomy and partial
oesophagectomy
) and in the last 4/6 weeks I have developed problems in eating as much as I was used to. I never really did whole little and often thing, and could even manage a 3 course meal.

I'M HOPING I DON'T BELONG HERE
Six years ago I had an
oesophagectomy
for cancer, and I've had my gall bladder out, so my insides are rather unusual, and I do get pain from that, but this new pain is .... well .... it's new. I don't know why I'm writing this. I'm just a coward.

"Performing oesophageal cancer surgery requires a great deal of experience"
It has been known that patient survival after
oesophagectomy
is very dependent on the surgeon's experience of the procedure.

two weeks post esophagectomy
I'm a 61 year old female who was diagnosed with stage 3 esophageal cancer. I completed 6 weeks of chemo and radiation and after about two and a half months had an esophagectomy. I was in the hospital for 8 days and am now recovering at home. I'm doing okay but still having some trouble with breathing

Chest pain after Esophagectomy
Hey guys! So I had an Esophagectomy over 20 years ago when I was just a kid. I'm now 28 and I have had fairly few complications aside from GERD. Until about 6 months ago that is. Certain heavy foods get stuck at the base of the gastric tube, unwilling to pass into the stomach. This is accompanied

Hydrogen Breath Tests
The case study, which needless to say did not involve an
oesophagectomy
, was concerned with fructose malabsorption and the article describes how excess sugar that is not digested starts to ferment and feed gut bacteria that can lead to bloating and diarrhoea.
