My cancer was found purely by chance.
I sometimes have twitchy movements, and my head nods a bit. Not serious, but irritating. So my GP sent me to a Neurologist, who prescribed tablets to try to ease it. But the tablets didn't help at all, in fact they made it much worse, and I was twitching and jerking all over, including the muscles of

, In 1994 I had Achalasia. In 2007 I had the Heller surgery.. Looking for people 70-80 who have had surgery or esophagectomy.
Just completed week of tests with my doctor and told at my age (74) surgery not a option. No mobility left in esophagus. I am looking for people age 70-80 who have undergone esophagectomy.

Subsidies on beds?
I had an
Oesophagectomy
and Gastrectomy last January and everything has gone really well apart from I now have trouble sleeping a lot of the time - not necessarily due to reflux, thankfully I'm not plagued with that but due to ongoing discomfort in my back and side.

Minimally invasive oesophagectomy
Although not a cancer patient, I know a few who have had the Ivor Lewis
oesophagectomy
and am familiar with the shark bite scar. However, yesterday I was really surprised at how small and neat the wounds are from minimally invasive techniques now available.

Metastatic spread to heart valve
My husband had an
oesophagectomy
in July 2013 for a T3N1M0 adenocarcioma and has just had a CT scan which reveals the cancer has returned in a heart valve but a biopsy is not possible because of the area involved. Has anyone else experienced this?

i had a oesophagectomy 17 years ago for barretts and severe dysplasia. Two years later I had my gall bladder removed. Reflux is a problem.
I am 62 and in reasonable health. I have psoriatic arthritis for which I inject methotrexate once a week which has controlled the arthritis well. I seem to be suffering more reflux problems in recent years particularly at night.I take nexium but it doesn't control it fully. My lung function is under

We need help with late dumping syndrome please
My husband who had a trans hiatal

PPIs
After
oesophagectomy
the majority of patients take PPIs for life to control reflux. Do these drugs also have a protective effect on the remaining osophagus and stomach or is it better to try to come off them. Phil

My husband has started getting bad acid reflux 15 months after his oesophagectomy.
He is on 30 mg Lanzaprozole daily and the reflux happened occasionally in the beginning but its now several times daily and at night. No change to his diet but he seems to be going a bit backwards with his recovery and it is getting him down. Any one else had this happen?

Before I had my oesophagectomy, the surgeon warned me it was a big op., and would take months to recover from.
But I didn't really understand just how big, how difficult it would be. If I had understood, I would still have had the op., because it's the best chance of surviving, but I wonder how many people really did understand? Perhaps only those who found this site before they had the op?

Post oesophagectomy (10 weeks ago) had dumping syndrome now experiencing chronic diarrhoea, for days on end.
My husband has recently had terrible bouts of diarrhoea, he had 6 fantastic days, was eating fine, pain free and then something clicked, he had dumping syndrome and then continued with diarrhoea for another 4-5 days. This has been the cycle for the last 2 weeks. I am at a loss, is this normal? It brings

Post oesophagectomy surgical complications - mediastinitis

Good News at last
Unlike the follow up to my
oesophagectomy
the liver protocols demand a scan after 12 weeks which was done on the 19th of August.

Weight Problem?
Five months from my
oesophagectomy
and doing OK (I think). Still getting twinges around the ribs and slipping down the pillows causes problems but my biggest worry is weight.
